This is the third year Overland Park Police Captain Mark Fitzgerald has led Operation Rudolph.

He says taking kids Christmas shopping, giving them cookies and a holiday meal for their family is awesome. He says the most amazing gift officers receive, is what some kids will do in return,"They dont want to get anything for themselves, they want to give things to other people. That happened last year twice when a student wanted to buy towels and it still chokes me up to this day."

23 sixth grade students from within the Shawnee Mission school district are chosen to participate in Operation Rudolph, which will be held December 15th.

Officers from Overland Park, Merriam and Lenexa PD's will be participating.
