Lenexa city officials are looking at ways to improve safety and efficiency along Quivira Road, one of the busiest roadways in the area.

The city is in the early stages of a study of Quivira Road from 79th Street to 99th Street. The study is being funded primarily through a Mid-America Regional Council Sustainable Places grant. The city is looking for ideas from the public.

"What we're looking for in terms of input from the public is how they see the corridor redeveloping and what they see as needs along the corridor," said Magi Tilton, city planning and development services manager.

A key focus of the study is safety related to pedestrians, bicyclists and motor vehicles.

A second of three public workshops will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lenexa Council Chambers. The public can share their comments at the meeting or online after the meeting.

The final Quivira Road Corridor Study is scheduled for completion in May, 2018.
