Worker falls 23 stories to his death at Kansas City's convention hotel construction site

Kansas City, MO - A worker fell 23 stories to his death Thursday morning at the construction site of the Loews convention center hotel, according to a spokesman with the KC fire department.

Emergency workers responded around 10am to the construction site just south of the downtown loop. 

The worker was pronounced dead at the scene.  

"We are sad to report there has been a fatality on our project at 15th and Baltimore," an official with J.E. Dunn Construction said. "We are working closely with the employer of the deceased, who is one of our subcontractors, as well as the police, as they investigate. Our thoughts are with the deceased’s family at this time."

The cause of the fall was not available. 

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has opened an investigation with J.E. Dunn.
