Two bridge projects along Interstate 70 east of Kansas City will have an impact of a lot of travelers plans over the weekend.

The Missouri Department of Transportation is continuing work on the diverging diamond project at the Oak Grove exit and will be conducting a bridge demolition this weekend. Starting at 9:00 p.m. Friday, all lanes of I-70 and Route F will be closed. That work is expected to be completed by 5:00 a.m. Monday.

"It will cause some delay, but if you plan in advance and you're prepared for delay it shouldn't be any issue," said Michelle Sewart, MoDOT spokeswoman. "If you need to access Oak Grove specifically, we recommend you get off at Bates City or Grain Valley, and then take Old Route 40 back."

In addition to the I-70 bridge project, MoDOT will conduct a traffic shift along Northbound Interstate 470 and Highway 291. Crews will start preparing for the traffic shift Saturday at 6:00 a.m. Crews hope to have that project finished by the end of the day Monday.
