A pedestrian was struck by a car and killed near 36th Street and Prospect, capping off a deadly weekend on Kansas City streets.

A total of three pedestrians were killed in crashes since Friday night. Two fatalities involved hit-and-run incidents.

Jyra Hill was struck on 71 Highway at Gregory. She was walking in the crosswalk when a dark-colored Chevrolet Equinox hit her and then sped away.

The second hit-and-run occurred on Sunday afternoon. A man hit by an unknown car near 36th and Prospect. He died at the hospital. Police did not immediately release the victim's name.

The driver remained on the scene of the third fatal pedestrian accident. The driver of a Kia said that a person ran in front of the eastbound vehicle on Interstate 435, just before the Grandview Road overpass.

Police say five people have died in traffic accidents on Kansas City streets since the beginning of the year.
