Water rescue teams from Kansas emergency agencies returned from the Houston area with stories to tell about Hurricane Harvey's destruction.

It was a great effort by a lot of people from across the state, said Randy Hill, search and rescue coordinator.

"They ended up sending us to Katy, Texas to assist with the evacuation of approximately 4,000 homes and multi-family dwellings," Hill said.

One crew that left Kansas a week ago was asked to transport people and animals that were stranded by flood waters.

"We ended up evacuating somewhere between 100 and 120 people," Hill said.
