Saying goodbye to furry family members is never easy, but a local veterinarian is taking some of the stress out of their final days.

Dr. Suzeanne Cosentino works for Lap of Love, a nationwide service that provides hospice and end-of-life treatment for pets at home.

The goal is to provide a less-stressful environment for cats and dogs in their final moments.

"Everyone I meet is so grateful to be able to have this experience at home, rather than having the stress of deciding, do we go to the veterinary clinic or pursue other means?" Cosentino said.

At-home euthanasia and hospice take the stress of the sterile veterinary office out of the end of life for your pets, Cosentino said.

Cosentino hears stories from families about their pets and she often establishes friendships with her clients that go beyond doctor and family.
