Kansas City, MO - A Major League Baseball Urban Youth Academy has now opened in Kansas City just a short throw out the back door of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Parade Park.

A ribbon cutting this morning officialy marked the opening of the $21 million facility, half of which were raised privately. A combination of funds from the city, the state of Missouri, MLB and ballplayers paid for the rest.

The facility has classrooms, four outside fields and an indoor practice facility and a broadcast booth.

It's the eighth MLB Urban Youth Academy to open in the US.
