Kansas City, MO - There's an old adage about March coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb. The lion is roaring this weekend in Kansas City, where bitter cold temperatures are predicted, along with four to seven inches of fresh snow.

The next system will affect eastern Kansas and a large portion of Missouri. The snow is expected to begin Saturday.

"We're looking at snow to start moving in late in the afternoon across western portions of the area, and then overspreading westward through the evening hours into the overnight hours," said Pamela Pietrycha, National Weather Service meteorologist in Pleasant Hill. "The heaviest snow looks to be after midnight."

The overnight low temperature Saturday into Sunday could be around zero, or slightly below. Monday morning's low is expected to be in the single digits.

"Right now the highest amounts look to be generally along and south of Interstate 70," Pietrycha said. "As with any of these systems, if you need to be out and about Saturday night, early Sunday morning, conditions are going to be hazardous."
