Kansas City, Kansas Police arrested a man after a two-hour standoff and double homicide Wednesday afternoon at a family restaurant.

A man and a woman were found shot to death inside Edwards Original Corner Market and Deli, at 81 North Mill Street. Officers were called to the business around 3 p.m.

The standoff attracted a large number of people who were curious about all the SWAT officers and armed police vehicles from around the Metro.

"I know they were in fear," said Vincent Maldanado, a neighbor. "I was just hoping that nothing bad would be going on. It was kind of scary because they were all yelling."

The suspect reportedly fired shots at police officers, who returned fire.

Police did not immediately release the identities of the victims, but the Kansas City Star reported one victim was Dennis Edwards, the owner of the business. The other victim was believed to be a female.
