The father of a 19-year-old Northland homicide victim says she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Police say Robbin Baska was killed during an apparent robbery attempt at her mother's apartment at a complex in the 100 block of N.W. Harlem Road. The Kansas City Star reports Baska was at her mother's place because hers was being fumigated.

A man and woman reportedly forced their way into the apartment Friday afternoon. Someone tripped and Robbin was shot. She died in the apartment.

Older sister Raegen Baska told The Star she called her father to tell him what happened and discovered he was at church, rehearsing with her stepmother for their 15th anniversary vow renewal.

Family members say Robbin Baska had relatives who worked in law enforcement and was considering following in their footsteps.
