Stonestreet says he loves serving as unofficial KC ambassador

With Kansas City, Kansas native Eric Stonestreet as grand marshal, another Kansas City St. Patrick's Day Parade was held on a chilly Sunday morning.

Stonestreet is one of the stars of ABC's "Modern Family."

"I have to fortify myself with some sort of protein to keep the waving strong all throughout the day," Stonestreet joked before the parade. "Smiling hurts at some point. You smile and your face gets sore after a while."

Stonestreet says he's happy to be an ambassador for Kansas City, to carry the message it's not just a few tall buildings in the middle of the prairie.

"I love the sound of a parade, the drums in the distance, the horses," Stonestreet told KMBZ's Bill Grady.

Stonestreet said he doesn't even mind the smell of the stuff the horses leave in the street.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans the theme of this year's parade, which had more than 100 entries.
