The Holt County Sheriff’s Office issued a mandatory evacuation for the city of Craig because of rising flood waters.

Johnny Rowlands from KMBC Channel 9 News flew over the area Tuesday in a helicopter, where he described the breached levee. The banks of the Missouri River were not visible from above because the water had spread over a wide area.

City leaders in Craig said they received a lot of assistance from volunteers.
"I can't come up with enough words," said Rhonda Hunziger, Craig mayor. "I can't come up with enough thanks and appreciation. There is a God."

Hunziger coordinated sandbagging and evacuation operations.

The sheriff's office put out a Facebook post encouraging people to leave. Those who chose to stay were told to go to the Craig City Hall or call to give their names and addresses, should they need to be rescued later.
