Twenty-four homes are on display this weekend around the Metro for the 20th annual Kansas City Remodeled Homes Tour, organized by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry.

One of the remodels is a second-story addition to a Fairway home, built in 1948. The second floor was added by Midwest Design & Remodel.

Remodeling can present some challenges for resdients who want to remain in their homes during the construction pricess, said Tom Weiss, Midwest Design & Remodel owner.

"You're going to encounter a lot of noise, a lot of dust, a lot of unusual things you don't normally encounter if you're living in the home when we're trying to do the remodel," Weiss said.

Homeowner Scott Melton said he was very happy with his home's transformation, which used attic space to create a new master bedroom, master bath and nursery.

The NARI Remodeled Homes Tour runs Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 11-4.

A portion of ticket sales benefits Habitat for Humanity.
