Olathe police arrest suspect after hours-long manhunt for 'dangerous' armed robber

Olathe, KS - A manhunt was underway in Olathe as police searched for an armed robber who exchanged gunfire with officers near 119th Street and Harold Road, police say.

Late in the day Olathe police reported they had their suspect in custody.

Sgt. Logan Bonnie with the Olathe Police Department said the incident began as a traffic stop as part of an ongoing investigation and that's when the exchange of gunfire occurred, according to Bonnie.

No injuries were reported.

The Olathe School District put both nearby Santa Fe Trail Middle School and Washington Elementary School on lockdown as the manhunt continued.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic male wearing all black clothing.
