The NFL named Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes its AFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row.

Mahomes, in his second season as a pro and first as a starter, threw six touchdown passes in Kansas City's 42-37 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's thrown for 10 touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season, the first time that has ever happened.

The league announced its picks Wednesday morning.

The NFC Offensive Player of the Week is also a repeat performer from Week 1. Tampa Bay's Ryan Fitzpatrick threw for 402 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Buccaneers to a 27-21 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard was named AFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Chicago Bears linebacker Danny Trevathan earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors.

The Special Teams Players of the Week are Dane Cruikshank of the Tennessee Titans and Robbie Gould of the San Francisco 49ers.
