Parkville, MO - Students and faculty from Park University are using ground penetrating radar to identify unmarked graves at the Old Parkville Cemetery along 9 Highway just north of downtown Parkville.

The cemetery was in use from 1840-1970, although use of the cemetery peaked around 1850 during the pioneer days.

Geologist Scott Hageman says the project to identify unmarked graves seeks to preserve the area's history and document who lived there and traveled through Parkville.

As many as 100 gravesites still remain unidentified.

Results from the project should be available within the next several days.
