North Kansas City is undergoing a temporary transformation today.

Proposed improvements are in the works for Armour Road to make it more vibrant and safe.

Wednesday temporary bike lanes, open space seating and gathering areas are being constructed at Armour and Fayette. The project will give the citizens and business owners a chance to see what is in store, said Sara Copeland, community development director.

"We're getting to the end of that project and this demonstration project is a chance for people to come and check out our recommendations and experience what they would be like for the bike lanes and the expanded sidewalk areas," Copeland said.

The project is called Meet on the Street. It runs from 10 to 6 Wednesday on Armour Road in downtown North Kansas City.

Team members are there to answer questions, Copeland said.

The Armour Road street plan is being finalized in October.
