Sporting Kansas City and the Kansas City Sports Commission are working to build on the interest in FIFA World Cup 2018 to promote the city as a site for the 2026 tournament.

The two entities have combined forces to produce and release a video that advertises Kansas City as a prime location for World Cup matches. FIFA recently awarded the 2026 World Cup to North America, with games to be played in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

"Who doesn't want to host a World Cup, it's the largest sporting event on the global stage," said Katerine Holland, with the KC Sports Commission. "We have a very, very good chance of getting a match for the 2026 World Cup."

Hosting a match in Kansas City could mean hundreds of millions of dollars for the local economy.

People are encouraged to sign a petition to bring the Cup to KC.
