A property management company is offering a concept in apartment living that is new to Kansas City, so-called micro units that measure about 300 square feet.

UCB Properties is inviting the public from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday for a special hard hat tour of Scholars Row, a 50-unit apartment project under construction near the Rockhurst University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City. It opens in October.

The tiny apartments come furnished for $1,200 a month and unfurnished for $850.

"We'll have all utilities included, which means washer and dryer will be an option, all electric, all water," said Tash Lancaster, leasing manager. "You also get a parking spot secured with the unit, and WiFi is also included."

To make the most of the small space, each unit will have one sink that serves both the kitchen and bathroom. Each apartment comes with a queen-sized bed.

Pre-leasing is now available. The property is located at 5522 Troost.
