After some weather delays, the Missouri Department of Transportation is planning to shut down a stretch of Interstate 435 so crews can perform repairs on a bridge.

MoDOT representatives say drivers can expect long delays on I-435, between 104th Street and the Grandview Triangle. Workers are closing multiple lanes and ramps so they can repair several steel bearings that have failed on the Blue River Bridge.

The work will begin around 6:00 p.m. Friday and finish some time late Saturday or early Sunday, MoDOT said.

The following ramps will be closed:

  • Westbound I-435 off-ramp to 103rd Street
  • 103rd Street on-ramp to eastbound I-435
  • Northbound Interstate 49 ramp to westbound I-435
  • Southbound Route 71 ramp to westbound I-435
