After more than a year and a half, a consistent headache for many Kansas City commuters may be cured soon.

The Missouri Department of Transportation has completed an extensive bridge rehabilitation project along Interstate 470 that began in the spring of 2017. Workers will close some lanes beginning at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday in an overreaching effort to fully open all currently closed lanes and loop ramps at the I-470/Route 291 and I-70 interchange. The work is set to finish by 5:00 a.m. Thursday.

All lanes along and loop ramps to and from I-470/Route 291 and I-70 will be open, assuming the weather allows the work to take place.

MoDOT rehabilitated more than a dozen bridges along the I-470 corridor. Work was completed on time and within budget, MoDOT engineers said.
