The winter weather forecast for this weekend in Columbia has students at the University of Missouri changing their plans.

MU is reopening its dormitories and dining halls at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, a day earlier than planned, so students can get back to campus before the next storm hits.

Meteorologists are predicting four to six inches of snow over the next few days.

At UMKC, students are being told to wait until Monday to come back to campus, even though dorms reopen Friday morning. The Dean of Students in Kansas City says with four to eight additional inches of snow and more power outages possible, they may have to set up warming shelters.

Classes at UMKC resume Tuesday.
