Columbia, MO - The University of Missouri has enhanced its smoking ban to include every kind of tobacco product, as well as vape devices.

Cigarettes, pipes and cigars have been banned for years on the Columbia campus. The new policy includes hookahs, vaping pens, other forms of electronic cigarettes and all forms of smokeless tobacco, like snuff and leaf.

The update is in keeping with the times, said Dr. Kevin Everett, who chaired the committee that devised the policy.

"It just looked like a comprehensive approach to prohibiting all tobacco would serve MU, both now and into the future," Everett said.

The new smoking ban will see its first test this weekend, when thousands of people visit the campus for the football game against Tennessee-Martin.
