Now that medical marijuana is legal in Missouri, Kansas City is hosting its first cannabis career fair Saturday.

Businesses that have been awarded licenses to operate in the medical marijuana field at the beginning of the year are looking for workers to work in a variety of positions.

"Everything from cultivation, which would benefit folks with agriculture or horticulture backgrounds," said Alan Zagier, Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association spokesman. "We also have the ancellary businesses that include things like banking and human resources, I.T., insurance."

The fair will is at Metro Community College's Penn Valley campus from 9-5 Saturday.

The medical cannabis industry is expected to create 4,000 jobs and generate an overall economic impact of more than $500 million statewide, Zagier said.
