Winter driving always comes with the concern of having a breakdown in the middle of nowhere.

There are some simple, inexpensive ways to winterize vehicles ahead of the holiday travel season.

"A winter wiper blade is your best choice," said Lauren Fix, an auto expert. "It has a jacket on it. They're not that expensive, and any auto parts store will install them for free."

Winter blades are not meant to be left on vehicles year-round. Fix says they should be changed every six months.

It is always a good idea to check all automotive fluids and change the oil before taking a long trip.

Proper tire inflation is critical for safety and fuel economy, especially in the winter. Each drop of ten degrees can make a difference of two pounds of tire pressure.
