Olathe, KS - The strange and disturbing case of Justin Rey goes to trial this week at the Johnson County Courthouse.

Rey, 36, was found living in a storage unit in Lenexa in the fall of 2017, along with his two small girls, one of them a newborn.

Detectives found the remains of Rey's wife, Jessica, in a cooler, also in the storage unit.

Rey faces charges on both sides of the state line.

His trial this week is for two counts of aggravated child endangerment, two counts of contributing to a child's misconduct and three counts of possession of child pornography.

Rey was removed from the courtroom during his preliminary hearing November after he refused to end an outburst, in which he accused the state of kidnapping his daughters.

Rey testified that his wife committed suicide shortly after giving birth in a Kansas City hotel room, and that he dismembered her body there to protect his children.

He said he planned on traveling with his wifes remains by train to Arizona.
