Wyandotte County prosecutors have filed sex crime charges against a school resource officer who worked in the Kansas City, Kansas School District.

Michael English, 57, was booked into jail on suspicion of three felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. His bond was set at $100,000.

The case involves three separate victims, said Mark Dupree, Wyandotte County District Attorney.

"He did unlawfully engage in lewd fondling or touching with a child who was 14 or more years of age but less than 16 years of age, who did not consent thereto, to satisfy the sexual desire of either the child or the offender," Dupree said, reading from the statute.

A parent tipped off police about the incidents, which allegedly occurred between January and March of this year.

"It's also important to make sure our children know that our police department are here to help us," Dupress said. "Here to make sure that safety is the number one priority."

English was assigned to West Middle School, and had worked for the district since 2015.
