Kansas City's mayor, Sly James, spent more than a full hour in studio Tuesday on Kansas City's Morning News.

The mayor took questions from listeners about the latest developments with a new terminal at Kansas City International Airport. James is a vocal supporter of modernizing the airport.

James was critical of KCI's outdated, semicircular, three-terminal layout.

"That's kind of like wanting to build a 5,000 square foot house and it's all ten feet wide," James said. "Boy, is it inefficient -- you have to walk for a day and a half to get from the bathroom to the kitchen."

After the airport selection committee's endorsement of a team led by Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate LLC, the city now focuses on a public vote on the issue Nov. 7.
