Kansas City, MO - Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced charges against Brian Lenoble, Jr, 22, for the New Year's Eve afternoon stabbing of a female employee at a Walmart at Highway 40 and I-70 in Kansas City.

Lenoble faces first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action.

According to court records, an off-duty police officer at the Walmart was called to the automotive center on a reported stabbing.

The officer saw a large cut on the victim's neck with the knife still embedded.

The officer took the defendant into custody in the parking lot, Peters Baker said.

While taking him into custody, police say Lenoble admitted he tried to kill the woman, who is understood to have been his girlfriend.

A witness told police detectives that the suspect had a knife in his hand when he went behind the counter at the automotive section of the store and stabbed the victim in the neck.

The defendant told police he grabbed a knife at the store and stabbed the victim. When she screamed, he ran, police said.
