Kansas City, MO - The Kansas City Airport Committee is meeting Thursday, when they are expected to go over financing for the new single terminal being developed at KCI.

Committee members could vote to issue $2 billion worth of bonds to pay for the project.

The committee is also expected to vote on a new development agreement with the contractor, Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate.

The goal of Thursday's meeting is to maintain progress with the often-delayed project, said Justin Meyer, with the Kansas City aviation department.

"One of the things we've been talking about is, how do we continue to get money to the developer for the work they're continuing to do, so the project can keep moving forward, rather than us saying, hey, put pencils down until we are final with the deal," Meyer said.

According to the latest estimate, the new airport terminal could open late in 2022.
