Kansas City Symphony celebrates successful completion of endowment campaign

The Kansas City Symphony has met its goal in an ambitious fundraising campaign.

The Masterpiece Campaign was tasked with raising $55 million for the orchestra's endowment.

"The completion of the Masterpiece Campaign allows our endowment, in terms of size, to be more comparable to orchestras in other cities of similar population to Kansas City," said Frank Byrne, symphony spokesman.

Byrne thanked the community for its support, both with pledges and by attending concerts and other events.

The increased endowment allows the orchestra to pay the musicians more and do even more community outreach events, Byrne said.

"Playing historic repertoire in Helzberg Hall, to presenting education programs, to all the other things that we're doing, it's only possible if the community supports us the way they have done so magnificently," Byrne said. "We're very grateful."
