Another winter storm is expected to strike the Kansas City area again, with snow and ice arriving in the metro in the early evening hours of Tuesday.

The heaviest period of snowfall should be later Tuesday evening. Forecasters expect enough snow to cause problems with traffic again.

"Somewhere in the neighborhood of three to four inches looks to be a pretty average estimate for Kansas City," said Scott Blair, meteorologist with the National Weather Service. "It could be a little less, but that would mean a little bit more light icing."

Snow and freezing drizzle is expected to stop falling before sunrise Wednesday.

Snowfall amounts are expected to be between four and six inches across a wide band of Kansas and Missouri, north of Kansas city. Even higher amounts, exceeding six inches, are expected in extreme northern Kansas and Missouri, along with Iowa.
