The KCMO Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association is fundraising to buy Narcan kits for K-9s and their handlers.

If a K-9 inhales opioids during a drug search, a dose of opioid antidote Narcan can save the dog's life.

Association president Jackie Cudahy says the kits come with two, one-time use doses.

KCPD K-9s and their handlers are not currently equipped with Narcan kits, according to Cudahy.

The group is holding a fundraiser October 22nd at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Zona Rosa from 11 in the morning til close.
