Kansas City, MO - The man who leads the Veterans Community Project (VCP) in Kansas City has been named a hero by cable news network CNN, and is in the running to be voted in as its CNN Hero of the Year for 2018.

Chris Stout is a co-founder and the CEO of VCP, and is one of 10 who made the network's list of Top 10 heroes.

Stout appeared on Midday with Jayme and Wickett to talk about the honor, and how it comes with a cash prize that will certainly help the organization.  Being in the Top 10 comes with a $10,000 prize.  The winner of CNN's Hero of the Year will be awarded $100,000.

Voting continues through Tuesday, December 4th, 2018.

Everyone can vote up to 10 times per day.

The VCP has built the Veterans Village in south Kansas City, a collection of tiny homes to serve as transition housing for homeless veterans. The nonprofit also assists local veterans with jobs, free transportation and other issues.
