The Jackson County Sheriff's Office has revealed its latest educational tool in their effort to reduce drinking and driving - the "Choose Your Ride" vehicle.

The Ford Crown Victoria is outfitted like a police cruiser in the front and like a yellow taxi cab in the rear. The idea is to remind people they should always choose the safe transportation method, or risk the consequences, which could include a ride to jail.

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) came up with the idea.

"I think it's very visual," said Leann Briggs, MADD spokeswoman. "We have to stay relevant, and make sure that people know that drunk driving isn't solved, it's still a problem."

The vehicle was donated by the Independence Police Department. The exterior was customized by Chux Trux, Destination Safe and the Missouri Department of Transportation.
