Kansas City, Zoo - There's been another animal death at the Kansas City Zoo.

Hamisi, a 9-year-old giraffe, suffered an "acute spinal cord injury" in his behind-the-scenes enclosure, according to zoo officials.

The zoo's veterinarians performed a necropsy, according to a spokesperson, and say Hamisi likely died instantly from the injury.

Hamisi came to the Kansas City Zoo from Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 2016. He fathered two giraffe calves, Dixie and Maxwell, who were both born last year.

The zoo says its undertaken an internal review of the giraffe habitat to prevent another occurance.

On Wednesday, the zoo announced the death of Bam bam, one of two of its polar bears.  The bear had untreatable liver cancer and was euthanized
