Firefighters battle 3-alarm blaze in heart of North Kansas City

13 businesses impacted, no injuries

North Kansas City, MO -  A three-alarm fire caused major damage to a building on the southwest corner of Armour and Swift in Northtown.

North Kansas City assistant city manager Kim Nakahodo says the fire was called in around 12:30.  

Both the Gladstone and Kansas City, Missouri fire departments were called in to provide mutual aid.

Nakahodo says people were evacuated from the building and from surrounding businesses.

The two-story brick building housed 13 businesses including Central Plains Trading and Galls uniform shop. 

Firefighters continued to pour water onto the building for several hours.

No injuries have been reported.
