Kansas City, MO - Smiles can make us all feel better. Numerous studies have found that smiling produces the feel-good hormones in your brain, even if it's a fake smile.
Orthodontist Dr. James Reynolds says smiles release serotonin, dopamine and endorphins, all the hormones we put in happy pills.
"A forced smile isn't quite as good as a real one, but try to smile even when you don't feel like it," says Dr. Reynolds.
He encourages people to smile even in frustrating circumstances because smiling may reduce your stress level.
He challenges his patients to smile at least five times a day.
