Baseball fans, eager to catch a glimpse of the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Angels' new phenom, Shohei Ohtani, went home disappointed on Sunday.

With temperatures hovering in the 30s, a message on the scoreboard at Kauffman Stadium announced that the game had been called off because of inclement weather. The game will be made up Monday, June 25.

The Angels defeated the Royals 5-3 Saturday night as rare mid-April snow flurries passed through the area.

Sporting KC went ahead with its game on Sunday in spite of the cold temperatures.

"I think soccer fans are the most resilient fans out there," one Sporting fan told KMBC Channel 9.

"I was fine the first 30 minutes of each half," another man said. "The last 15 minutes were rough -- it was really cold."

Sporting battled the Seattle Sounders to a 2-2 draw.
