Kansas City, MO - An advisory committee has recommended that the new yet-to-be-built single-terminal at the Kansas City International Airport be named for civil rights figure Martin Luther King, Jr.

The committee was charged with discovering ways that the legacy of MLK, Jr could be honored in a city that is one of the very few in the country to not have a major thoroughfare named after him.

The committtee held several public forums before reaching its conclusion.

Mayor Sly James said he'll present the group's findings to the city council in a business session, but likely not for a few weeks.  And that any action could be months away.

During a news confererence James posed that the terminal could be named the Martin Luther King Terminal at MCI.

The official designation of Kansas City's airport is MCI.
