More than 200 chickens rescued from a cockfighting operation in southwestern Missouri are now in Independence in the care of the Great Plains SPCA.

A week ago, the Stone County Sheriff's department searching for drugs dismantled a cockfighting operation on a farm near Branson.

Berry Davis, 52, is charged with numerous drug and animal cruelty offenses.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals investigator Tim Rickey says cockfighting is more common than you think.
