Burns & McDonnell executives still believe they have the right stuff to build a new terminal at Kansas City International airport.

The airport selection committee picked Edgemoor for the new single terminal plan. The full city council is expected to vote Thursday, but Burns & McDonnell has now brought in who it calls two of the most respected bond lawyers in the state and a procurement attorney.

Monday morning Burns & McDonnell officials plan to explain why they think the self-described hometown team's financial proposal may be the only one that complies with state law.

Burns & McDonnell also alleges that the city violated its own procurement rules.

The Kansas City engineering and architecture firm wants to be reinstated in the KCI selection process.

A source close to the negotiations tells KMBZ the company will likely seek a legal remedy if it is not reconsidered as an option for the $1-billion contract.
