Kansas City, MO -  Kansas City's illegal dumping investigator calls it one of the most egregious acts of illicit disposal he has ever seen.

City workers this week picked up about 2,100 tires from a lot off Truman Road.

Surveillance cameras at a nearby motorcycle shop recorded someone stopping a semi tractor trailer and dropping off tires.

The city also has cameras at the lot, but without someone making a call to 311, it is very difficult to catch a perpetrator.

"There are other ways to do this," said Alan Ashurst, illegal dumping investigator. "Have a little pride. This is the way things need to work. If you see something, you have to say something."

The city spent an estimated $3,700 picking up the tires, but a lot of garbage remains at the site.

“This dumpsite has been the most-exploited dumpsite since I started this position,” Ashurst said. “It’s just full of garbage, and it always is. We can clean it and it’s full of garbage.”

Because of the large volume of tires left at the site, the illegal dumping suspect who was arrested could face felony charges, Ashurst said.
