Robbery charges for teens involved in gun to head viral video in Independence

Independence, MO - The Jackson County Prosecutor announced a charge of robbery for the 17-year-old who was seen on video holding a gun to the head of another teen.

Alexander A. Schrader was charged with Robbery 1st Degree, a Class A felony in Missouri, according to prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

The Office of the Juvenile Officer has also charged two juveniles with Robbery for the incident.  

According to court documents, Schrader is the one seen holding a pistol to the head of a 13-year-old teen in a video recorded on a social media app on Saturday.  The victim was also punched several times during the encounter.

Prosecutors say the victim told police that money was taken from him during the assault.

Schrader turned himself over to Independence police on Tuesday afternoon and confessed to putting a gun to the victim's head, according to the prosecutor's office.

A juvenile who videotaped the incident also was interviewed by police and turned over to juvenile authorities.
